Artist Statement: Pop, Clink, Fizz

In recent times, the weight of the world has felt especially present. As an artist, I’ve found myself questioning the role of creative work in the face of such collective heaviness. But in sitting with that discomfort, I was reminded of the essential role art plays—not just in documenting the human experience, but in offering moments of connection, relief, and resonance.

Art has continually been a source of comfort for me. It has met me in every emotional state—grief, joy, confusion, love. Through the work of others, I’ve felt less alone. That realization led me to consider how I might use my own practice to alchemize some of the weight I’ve been carrying.

Pop, Clink, Fizz is the result of that inquiry—a series rooted in personal reflections and fleeting moments of lightness. Each piece captures a time when I experienced joy, stillness, or presence. Drinks serve as a visual and conceptual anchor, recurring throughout the series as symbols of celebration, comfort, and human connection.

The intention behind this work is simple: to offer the viewer a pause. A moment to reconnect with their own memories of ease, laughter, and shared time with others. In doing so, I hope this series becomes a small counterweight to the heaviness so many of us are navigating.
